Interview with Keno Veith
De Schwatten Ostfrees Jung: „My focus is on being myself.“
What does the Instagram star and most famous contract worker think about the farmers' protests, why does he love agriculture, and what does he wish for his industry in the future? We spoke with the "Schwatten Ostfrees Jung."
Hey, Keno! You promote the agricultural sector on your channels, and you are a contractor yourself. Would you choose this profession again today?
It's an important industry. Without food, nothing works! But it's not just food that depends on agriculture; everything is connected to farming, and many forget that. They only see what they want to see in their bubble. My focus is on being myself, but I am very versatile. Agriculture is the common thread from which other areas branch off.
How did you become an ambassador for EMKA in Bretzfeld? What distinguishes you in this role?
I am an open person. I don't just stand up and tell others to test products for me. It's important for me to form my own opinion. If I'm convinced by the products, I communicate that as well. That's how a relationship with the EMKA brand has developed.
Can you share your stance on the farmers' protests?
Opinions on this issue are divided - including mine. This is largely due to how it's presented in the media. What has happened in recent weeks is referred to as farmers' protests, but it's not just the farmers who are affected; it's the entire middle class. The farmers are the first to draw attention to this, primarily through the machinery they use. We are simply the most recognizable.
Together, we must ensure that the economy keeps running. The main engine here is the middle class. If you keep restricting them, there will eventually be no room to breathe. Laws and climate protection are important, but it's not just about us; it's about the future as well. However, this must take place under conditions that are feasible for everyone. Otherwise, people will leave. It's not the goal to replace our high-quality produced food with imports - just because they are cheaper. This isn't a new problem, but recent political decisions and draft laws have caused the situation to reach a breaking point.
If you had one wish, what would you wish for the agricultural sector?
There should be a sensible regulation in place so that farmers in Europe can be competitive and are not reliant on subsidies. They need to receive a fair price for their products in order to produce sustainably.
